How to Play:

  • Number of Players: 2-4 Players
  • What You’ll Need:
    • Ludo board game
    • Tokens (4 per player, in different colors)
    • Dice (one die)
  • Gameplay:
    • Set Up the Board: Unfold the game board and place it on a flat surface. Each player chooses a color and takes the four corresponding tokens. Place them in the designated starting area according to the game board instructions.
    • Getting Started: Decide who goes first (youngest player first is common, or you can roll the dice to see who gets the highest number). On their turn, a player rolls the dice.
    • Entering the Playing Field: A token can only leave its starting area if the player rolls a 6. If they don’t roll a 6, the turn passes to the next player.
    • Moving Around the Board: Once a token is out, players roll the dice and move their chosen token the corresponding number of spaces around the track.
    • Capturing Opponents: If a player lands on a space occupied by another player’s token (of a different color), the captured token gets sent back to its starting area. The capturing player gets to stay on the space.
    • Safe Zones: Certain squares on the board are designated as safe zones, where other players’ tokens cannot capture yours. These can be helpful strategic spots during the game.
    • Reaching the Home Stretch: The ultimate goal is to get all four of your tokens into your designated home area (the colored spaces at the center of the board). Pawns can only enter the home area by rolling the exact number needed to land on the final space within your home area.
    • Winning the Game: The first player to get all four of their tokens safely into their home area wins the game!

Make it Your Own:

  • House Rules (Optional): Some families implement house rules, such as not allowing players to be captured on their first move around the board after leaving the starting area.
  • Themed Tokens: Use small figurines or toys as tokens to add a fun theme to the game.
  • Fast Play (Optional): For a shorter game, agree to have tokens be able to leave the starting area on any number rolled, not just a 6.
