Cards against humanity
Cards Against Humanity is a fill-in-the-blank party game where players compete to create the funniest or most disturbing combination using a black card (a question or prompt) and a white card (a word or phrase answer).
Description: Cards Against Humanity is a popular party game designed for adults who enjoy dark humor and politically incorrect jokes. It’s a simple game with minimal setup that can lead to hilarious or cringe-worthy (depending on your taste) results. The game centers around creativity, dark humor, and a dash of competition. Players are dealt white cards with words or phrases, while a black card with a question or prompt is revealed in the center of the table. Each round, a designated player (the “Card Czar”) reads the black card prompt aloud. The other players then choose the white card from their hand that they think best completes the prompt or creates the funniest (or most offensive) combination. The Card Czar anonymously reviews all the white cards and chooses the funniest or most disturbing one, awarding that player a point. The game continues with new black cards being revealed and players vying to create the winning combinations. Cards Against Humanity is a guaranteed recipe for laughter (or groans), making it a popular choice for parties among those who enjoy dark humor.

How to Play:
- Number of Players: Ideally suited for 4-20+ players. The more players, the more varied and interesting the combinations can be.
- What You’ll Need:
- Cards Against Humanity Deck: A deck of black cards (prompts) and white cards (answers).
- (Optional) Notepad and pen for keeping score (but really, the laughter – or groans – are their own reward).
- Gameplay:
- Deal the Cards: Shuffle both the black and white card decks. Deal a hand of white cards (usually seven) to each player.
- Choose the Card Czar: Designate one player as the Card Czar for the first round. This role rotates throughout the game.
- Black Card Revealed: The Card Czar reveals the top card from the black deck and reads the prompt aloud for all players to hear.
- Pick Your Funniest Answer: Each player chooses the white card from their hand that they think best completes the black card prompt or creates the funniest (or most offensive) combination. Players keep their chosen white card hidden from the others.
- Show and Tell: All players simultaneously reveal their chosen white card to the Card Czar.
- The Card Czar Chooses: The Card Czar reads each white card combination anonymously and picks the funniest or most disturbing one according to their own sense of humor.
- Award the Point: The player whose white card is chosen by the Card Czar wins the round and scores a point (or bragging rights).
- New Round, New Card Czar: A new round begins with a new black card being revealed. The Card Czar role moves to the next player in clockwise order.
Estimated Playtime: A typical game of Cards Against Humanity can last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or more, depending on the number of players, the reading speed of the Card Czar, and the amount of time spent laughing (or arguing) over the combinations.
Make it Your Own:
- House Rules: Create your own house rules to personalize the game. For example, you can award bonus points for particularly creative or offensive combinations.
- Themed Decks: If you have an expansion pack or another game with compatible cards, you can mix and match the black and white cards from different decks for an extra twist.
- Play to Win or Play to Laugh: Decide whether you’re playing to win by scoring points or simply to have fun and create the most outrageous combinations.
